Sci-fi author Cat Rambo to speak at Writers of Kern meeting

cat rambo

Science fiction author Cat Rambo will address the Writers of Kern at its meeting on Saturday.

Great stories have a heart, an emotional core that both resonates deeply with the reader and says something about the human experience.

How do you discover what lies in your story’s heart, and how do you revise to make its beat even stronger and more compelling? Join Cat Rambo for a workshop on how to examine your draft and find out what’s really inside on Saturday.

The Writers of Kern session with Rambo, who uses they/them pronouns, will be held in person and available as a recording after Saturday's event.

Rambo lives, writes and teaches somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. They have had 250-plus fiction pieces published including stories in Asimov’s, Clarkesworld Magazine, and The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.

The former two-term president of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) won the Nebula Award for their fantasy novelette "Carpe Glitter" in 2020. Their most recent works are the space opera "You Sexy Thing," released in November, as well as the anthology "The Reinvented Heart," co-edited with Jennifer Brozek, that will be out next month.

The in-person meeting begins at 9:15 a.m. Saturday in the Harvest Room of Hodel's Country Dining, 5917 Knudsen Drive.

Tickets are $18, $15 for members. Cost is $5 for those who want access to a Zoom link. Tickets for either experience are available at writersofkern.com.
