What is a food without a national day? Would pizza taste as good if we didn't have a day to celebrate it? Of course, pizza is life, but that's besides the point. The pie's big day is Feb. 9 and, although not everybody will be celebrating, we have a few deals worth checking out.

Pita Paradise Food Truck is offering a chicken shawarma or cheese "pitza" today. It's served as a combo with a drink for $5 or $4, respectively. The truck is parked at 2020 H St.

Michaelangelo Wood Fired Pizza is dishing up pies downtown from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 17th and L streets. No discount but they will donate 50 percent of their sales to the Golden Empire Gleaners.

Round Table Pizza is also raising funds for a good cause. Diners can enjoy a free original personal pizza (cheese or pepperoni) with the purchase of any Pepsi product from 2 to 5 p.m. The chain has teamed with Pepsi to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Mountain Mike's Pizza is offering $5 off any mountain size pizza, or $3 off any large pizza. The deal is available for dine-in, delivery or carry out.

Me-n-Ed's is selling a heart-shaped, one-topping pizza for $12.95 (plus tax) now through Feb. 15.

BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse wants to make sure you have leftovers. It's offering a medium deep dish or tavern-cut pizza to go for $5 with the purchase of any large deep dish pizza when you dine in today.

Baskin-Robbins is offering samples of its Polar Pizza from 3 to 7 p.m.
