Seized on 06/30/2020, at 3501 California Avenue, Bakersfield, California, in connection with violation of Health and Safety Code sections 11378 and 11379. Control No: 20-0032: $411,000, the estimated/appraised value is $411,000.00 US Currency. Seized on 08/13/2020, at the 2600 block of Buck Owns Blvd, Bakersfield, California, in connection with violation of Health and Safety Code section 11359. Control No: 20-0033: $3,323, the estimated/appraised value is $3,323.00 US Currency. Seized on 08/13/2020, at 2045 S. Union Avenue, Bakersfield, California, in connection with violation of Health and Safety Code section 11359. Control No: 20-0034: $5,961, the estimated/appraised value is $5,961.00 US Currency. Seized on 08/17/2020, at 1508 N. Guam Street, Ridgecrest, California, in connection with violation of Health and Safety Code section 11351. Procedures to forfeit the above property are under way. You have until thirty (30) days from the date of the LAST publication of this Notice to file a verified claim (unless you received actual notice). The claim must state the nature and extent of any interest you hold in the seized property, must be verified, and must be filed with the Clerk of the Kern County Superior Court, 1415 Truxtun Avenue-Civil Window, Bakersfield, CA 93301. An endorsed copy of the claim must be served on the Kern County District Attorney's Office, Attn: Asset Forfeiture Unit, 1215 Truxtun Avenue, 4th Floor, Bakersfield, CA 93301. Use the appropriate Control Number listed above in any correspondence. If your claim is properly filed, the District Attorney will decide whether or not to file a Petition for Forfeiture with the Superior Court to contest your claim. In the case where a Petition is filed and a contested hearing is held, you will have the following rights which include but are not limited to: you have the right to testify on your own behalf, submit evidence showing the legitimacy of the seized assets, and/or you also have the right to represent yourself or hire your own attorney. Be advised, there is no right to appointed counsel in this case. If no claim is properly filed within the time allowed, the seized property will be ordered forfeited to the State and disposed of according to Health and Safety Code section 11489, without further notice or hearing.
