Born in Vietnam and raised as an orphan by an American family in New York, local artist Aliza McCracken started painting at 4 years old and developed into a professional artist at 15. Her art carries themes of love, life and hope, blending her passion for drawing and painting with creative writings to inspire beautiful living.

She will be doing a signing for her latest book, “Celebrating a Beautiful Life: Artistic Expressions from the Heart,” at Barnes and Noble, 4001 California Ave., on Dec. 1 from 2 to 5 p.m. The event is free.
