The Bakersfield Train Robbers on Wednesday named Bill Moore the manager for the team's inaugural season in 2017.

Moore is a veteran coach in the Pecos League, which next year is adding the Train Robbers, who will play at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

Moore managed the Santa Fe (N.M.) Fuego, from 2012-2015, winning the Pecos League title in 2014, when he was named Manager of the Year. Last season he managed the Garden City (Kan.) Wind. From 1989-2003, Moore worked as a scout for the Montreal Expos, Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

"I look forward to continuing the baseball tradition in Bakersfield," Moore said in a release.

The Train Robbers, who open their season in late May, will take the place of the Bakersfield Blaze, which were contracted from the California League after this past season by Minor League Baseball.
