TAFT — Taft College had 12 runs through four innings Saturday and went on to beat Porterville College 14-8 in a Central Valley Conference baseball game.

Travis Turner paced the Cougars’ 17-hit attack by going 4 for 4. Richard Ortiz homered, went 2 for 4, scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Nick Kawano went 2 for 6 with four RBIs.

Taft (10-11-1, 4-2 CVC) had strong relief pitching. Bryan Santiago got the win with three shutout and hitless innings out of the bullpen and Tyson Canfield allowed one earned run over the final three innings to earn his first save. Porterville fell to 3-21 overall and 0-6 in the CVC.
