Soccer ties family together

Three siblings, three soccer coaches. That’s the backstory of Silver Arias (left), Philip Arias (center) and Marina Arias Lopez. All three played soccer and graduated from Highland High School, while Silver and Phil went on to play collegiately at Loyola Marymount and Marina at Bakersfield College. All three have continued giving back to the local soccer community as well. Philip is currently the junior varsity boys soccer coach at Liberty, while Silver coaches junior varsity girls soccer at Garces and Marina coaches the freshman/sophomore girls soccer team at Mira Monte. "We all grew up playing soccer and of course we played on the college level as well," Silver Arias said. "It's always been a part of our lives. And we're also a super-competitive family. I think that drives us on the soccer field."
