Seven Kern County girls and boys basketball teams advanced to the CIF Southern California regional playoffs, but only one will play at home in the opening round on Wednesday.

California City, which repeated as the Central Section Division V boys basketball champions on Friday at Selland Arena in Fresno, are the No. 8 seed in the D-V regionals and will host No. 9 South Gate-South East.

The regional opening rounds are slated for 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Also advancing on the boys side in D-I is No. 14 Bakersfield.

The Drillers lost to Fresno-Bullard in the section D-I semifinals and will play at No. 3 Encino-Crespi.

The third boys team to advance in Bakersfield Christian. The Eagles lost to Kerman in the D-IV section finals on Saturday and will play at No. 3 San Luis Obispo on Wednesday.

Four local girls teams advance.

Independence is the No. 11 seed in D-I and will play at No. 6 Chatsworth-Sierra Canyon.

Despite winning the section D-II title on Friday, Bakersfield is No. 13 in the SoCal D-II regional bracket and will open up at No. 4 Alhambra-Mark Keppel.

Two locals advance in the SoCal D-III regional bracket.

Shafter is the 12-seed and is at No. 5 Tulare-Mission Oak on Wednesday and No. 14 Golden Valley plays at No. 3 Long Beach-Cabrillo.
