Robby Sawyer capped a great weekend of racing with a victory in the IMCA Modified feature on Saturday night at Bakersfield Speedway.
Sawyer took the lead from Rob Sander following a restart on lap seven and led the rest of the way to win the 25-lap feature.
Sawyer passed Sander late in a race at The Dirt Track at KCRP on Friday night and it was Sander who Sawyer passed early on Saturday night.
Sawyer finished second both nights.
“It feels good,” Sawyer said of the win.
“I can’t thank the people that help me every week enough. I’m just fortunate enough to be behind the wheel every week. We won KCRP last night .. this is a good time tonight.”
Passing was difficult on the track as there was only one fast way around — the high groove.
“I was looking for a good line and Robby got by me,” Sanders said of the early restart.
Sawyer pulled out to a huge lead before a caution bunched the field on the 17th lap.
“I stayed with him pretty good after that last restart,” Sanders said.
Brad Pounds finished third, the same position he finished the night before at KCRP.
Cody Laney was fourth and Brian Clark fifth.
