The wait is finally over.

North High School unveiled its new gym on Tuesday, which is set to open for the 2017-18 winter sports season.

The Stars will tip things off at the gym on Nov. 27, with two basketball games against Centennial High School. The girls game is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. with the boys immediately following at 7:30.

North's new facility seats up to 2,000 fans and is fully air conditioned. Lloyd Williams court is named in honor of the former coach, athletic director and assistant principal at North.

Principal Mark Balch said the project took just under two years to complete and cost about $12 million.

"We want the community to know that this is their gymnasium, as well as North High's," Balch said.

Said Stars' boys basketball player Anthony Keys: "I'm really ready for the first game and the games to come to get a lot of wins in this new gym."
