The Independence girls basketball team’s return trip to Selland Arena got cut short Wednesday at Clovis North.

The Falcons, vying for their fourth straight Central Section championship, lost 62-37 to the Broncos. Independence entered the game as the No. 3 seed in the Division I tournament bracket, while Clovis North is No. 2.

Independence (21-6) entered this season winners of three consecutive Division II section championships, but the Falcons made the leap to D-I prior to the 2017-18 campaign.

Clovis North (26-4) will face No. 2 Clovis West in the section title game. The contest is scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m. at Selland Arena.
