It’s the first full week in November, which means a big week of postseason action in prep sports around Kern County.

Bakersfield and West are both playing for Central Section girls tennis team championships Tuesday afternoon.

The third-seeded Drillers are back in the Division II championship for the second consecutive season, this time at No. 1 Visalia-Redwood at 2:30 p.m.

In D-III, West, the 3-seed, is at No. 1 Corcoran at noon as the Vikings seek the program’s first section title since 1973.

The volleyball playoffs return Tuesday with the section quarterfinals.

Nine county teams remain, with three teams left in the D-I bracket.

No. 4 Garces hosts No. 5 Clovis West. The Rams swept the previous meeting on Sept. 21 at Garces while No. 3 Liberty hosts No. 6 Centennial in a rubber match in which the Patriots won both Southwest Yosemite League meetings.

Four-time defending section champions Bakersfield Christian begin the Eagles’ quest for a first D-II title as the No. 1 seed against No. 8 Lemoore. It’s the first D-II playoff match for BCHS after winning the previous section titles in D-III and D-IV.

Tehachapi is on the road in D-II as the 5-seed at No. 4 Madera while Taft, the lone county team in D-IV is at home as the 3-seed against No. 6 Dos Palos.

D-V has three locals in the quarterfinals with No. 1 California City hosting No. 8 Fresno-Washington Union, No. 6 Wasco at No. 3 Hanford-Sierra Pacific and No. 10 Delano at No. 2 Lemoore-Kings Christian.

Garces, the top seed in the boys water polo D-II playoffs, hosts No. 5 Lemoore Tuesday in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m.

The area cross country league championships are all at Hart Park on Thursday starting with the SWYL girls league championship at 10 a.m. and concluding with the South Yosemite League boys at 1:30 p.m.

Also on Thursday, BCHS senior Madi Daniel, the Central Section individual champion, along Gillian Galicia of Liberty and Claire Cornejo of Garces, will compete in the CIF Southern California girls golf championships at Canyon Crest Country Club in Riverside starting at 8:30 a.m.
