SAN DIEGO — Summer Evans pitched a complete-game seven-hit shutout Saturday to lead Cal State Bakersfield to an 8-0 softball win over the University of San Diego to salvage a split of a non-conference doubleheader. San Diego won the opener 6-5.

Evans walked one and struck out two. The CSUB offense backed her by scoring four runs in the second inning and two in the fifth. Josie Flores and Julea Cavazos both had two hits with Cavazos scoring two runs.

San Diego won the opener with a run in the bottom of the seventh. After two outs, two walks and a hit batsman loaded the bases and Clare ended it with an RBI single.

Cydney Curran had two hits and Megan Marcy added two RBIs to pace the CSUB offense in the opener. CSUB is 4-15 and San Diego is 10-12.
