Cal State Bakersfield women’s basketball (12-10, 6-2 Western Athletic) won its fourth game in a row, downing Missouri-Kansas City (8-15, 4-4) on the road. The Roadrunners topped the Kangaroos, 76-62 for CSUB head coach Greg McCall’s 100th career head coaching victory.
CSUB senior guard Alize’ Lofton scored a career-high 18 points. Guard Alexxus Gilbert was 4-for-8 from 3-point land and had 16 points. Gilbert had 13 points in the first half and CSUB led 41-27.
The Roadrunners shot better than 50 percent and outscored UMKC in the paint, 36-14. CSUB got revenge for UMKC’s buzzer-beating win on Jan. 18 in the Icardo Center.
CSUB’s Jazmine Johnson led the defensive effort with four steals to go along with her six assists. The Roadrunners held UMKC to 37.5 percent shooting and forced it to turn the ball over 20 times in the game.
