Cal State Bakersfield’s women’s basketball team (3-4) is continuing its road trip with an 11 a.m. game at UC Riverside (2-7) on Wednesday. The Roadrunners are in their third of four straight road games since Nov. 27 that has taken CSUB to Utah and Texas. The fourth game is at South Dakota on Saturday.

While CSUB’s defense has been strong most of the year, its offense has struggled at times. The Roadrunners are coming off their worst offensive output of the year, a 41-29 loss at Southern Methodist.

CSUB shot just 19.2 percent from the floor and 22.2 percent from 3 against SMU. Aja Williams was the only CSUB player to make more than two shots. She went 5-for-16 with a team-high 12 points.

UC Riverside beat CSUB 71-66 last season. Though the Highlanders have lost four of their last five games, their seven losses have come to teams like No. 14 Stanford and No. 7 UCLA. Riverside senior Michelle Curry is averaging 13.8 points per game and sophomore Skyler Lewis is averaging 8.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

CSUB will be joining UC Riverside in the Big West in July 2020.

Men's basketball sells out Icardo Center for Education Day again

The Roadrunners' game against Life Pacific at 11 a.m. on Friday is the team's third annual "Education Day," where local school children come to the game. For the third year in a row, the promotion has resulted in a sellout, CSUB announced.

More than 3,000  elementary and middle school children will take a field trip to CSUB to tour the campus and experience a day in the life of a college student. The game will cap off the field trip.

There will be no walk-up sales nor will student tickets be handed out.
