The Cal State Bakersfield women’s volleyball team lost at New Mexico State 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-14) on Thursday.

The Roadrunners are now 12-9 overall and 5-1 in Western Athletic Conference play, while NMSU is 12-7 on the year and 4-2 in the WAC.

The Roadrunners were led by Sydney Haynes and Aleksandra Djordjevic, who each had five kills. Fabiana Andrade added 12 assists while Emily Lopes had 12 digs.

The Roadrunners and UT Rio Grande are tied for first place in the WAC standings. The two teams play Saturday, at noon, in Edinburg, Texas.

Roadrunners can’t get past Houston Baptist on road

Cal State Bakersfield couldn’t tally the equalizer, falling at Houston Baptist 2-1 in Western Athletic Conference men’s soccer action on Thursday.

Houston Baptist scored the game’s first two goals — a first-half tally by Abdullah Mirza and a second-half marker by Marc Anthone.

Jamie Carey-Morrell got the Roadrunners on the board in the 81st minute, but CSUB couldn’t get one more to knot the score.

The Roadrunners are now 5-7 on the year and 3-2 in WAC play. Houston Baptist is 5-5, 2-3.
