Cal State Bakersfield women’s basketball senior forward Aja Williams was named a First Team All-Western Athletic Conference player, the conference announced Monday morning. Three other Roadrunners earned WAC awards as well.

Williams led CSUB with 12.9 points per game during the 2017-18 regular season while mostly coming off the bench. She was second on the team with 5.4 rebounds per contest and second in blocks, assists and steals. Williams landed on the All-Newcomer Team last year after transfering to CSUB from Holmes Community College in Mississippi.

"Last year, I didn't have the best season that I thought I could have and it kind of disappointed me," Williams said of the award. "... It's a great feeling because I achieved one of my goals."

Redshirt senior center Jazmyne Bartee earned All-Defensive Team honors for the second year in a row. Redshirt junior guard Jazmine Johnson joined Bartee as a defensive selection and freshman center Vanessa Austin was put on the newcomer team.

Bartee, who CSUB head coach Greg McCall calls “The Eraser”, led the WAC with two blocked shots per game and was sixth with 6.8 rebounds per game. Johnson was seventh in the conference with 1.6 steals and was one of the leaders on one of the best scoring defenses in the country.

Austin made 19 starts in her first year, averaging 5.6 points and three rebounds per game.

"I'm thankful that the coaches think highly of me, but I feel like it's not over with," Bartee said. "Those awards, they mean a lot, but they're not as meaningful as a WAC championship."

CSUB (16-12, 10-4 WAC) earned the No. 2 seed in the conference and opens the WAC Tournament on Wednesday against No. 7 Texas-Rio Grande Valley (14-15, 4-10) at 2:30 p.m. in Las Vegas.
