Cal State Bakersfield men's basketball center Moataz Aly was named to the Western Athletic Conference's All-Defensive Team for the second year in a row. The conference announced its men's basketball All-WAC teams Tuesday morning. Aly was the only CSUB player recognized.

Aly was third in the conference during the regular season with 1.7 blocks per game. His block percentage of 11.2 is ranked 18th in the country, according to Kenpom. Block percentage is an approximation of opponents' 2-point shots that are blocked by a player while he is on the court, considering total blocks, minutes played and number of opponents' shots.

The Alexandria, Egypt native that came to CSUB by way of Hutchinson Community College in Kansas led the WAC with 1.8 blocks per game in 2016-17. He was also named to the All-Newcomer Team that year.

CSUB (12-7, 5-9 WAC) is the No. 7 seed in the WAC Tournament and will play No. 2 Utah Valley (21-9, 10-4) in the opening round on Thursday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in Las Vegas.
