The Bakersfield Condors ended the Texas portion of a road trip with a 5-2 loss to San Antonio on Saturday night.

The Condors trailed 3-1 heading into the third but cut the lead to 3-2 on a Kyle Platzer goal with 3:51 left. The Rampage scored a pair of empty-net goals in the final minute, the final one by Ricco Grimaldi for a hat trick.

The loss dropped the Condors two games below .500 (9-11-3-0) as they finished the trip 1-1-1.

Shane Starrett, who was named ECHL Goaltender of the Month for November, made his AHL debut and got to see plenty of the puck as the Condors were out shot 49-23. Starrett stopped 44 of 47.

Grimaldi put the Rampage up 1-0 just 3:08 into the game but the Condors quickly responded with Josh Currie scoring at 4:13 to tie the game. Grimaldi scored again at 7:57 to make it 2-1 and Felix Girard’s goal 5:47 into the second made it 3-1.

Brad Malone was held without a point, ending his point streak at seven games. Iiro Pakarinen assisted on Curries goal, giving him points in all four games with Bakersfield.
