Cal State Bakersfield women’s basketball continued its solid play on Thursday night. Chicago State, on the other hand, continued its monumental struggles.
The Roadrunners moved to 11-10 overall and 5-2 in Western Athletic Conference play with their 63-36 road win over the Cougars. Chicago State, on the other hand, fell to 0-22 on the season and 0-7 in league following Thursday’s defeat.
The loss was Chicago State’s 58th straight defeat, which tied the longest losing streak in Division I women’s college basketball.
The Cougars also remain the only team, men’s or women’s, in the D-I level to not win a game this season.
CSUB got 12 points from Vanessa Austin, 10 from Jazmine Johnson and nine apiece from Alize' Lofton and Aja Williams. Johnson added six rebounds, while Austin had five of her own.
CSUB led 21-20 after the opening quarter and 34-24 at halftime. The Roadrunners blew the game open with a 24-6 third-quarter advantage.
The Roadrunners will be back in action Saturday when they visit Missouri-Kansas City for a 1 p.m. game.
