Bakersfield College’s men’s tennis team opened the 2018 season with a 9-0 win over Reedley at home on Friday.

Renegades No. 1 singles player Kaleb Johnson, a freshman, led the way with a two-set victory over Reedley’s Robert Smith. He didn’t drop a game, winning both sets, 6-0. Manrico Cabaloza, BC’s No. 5 singles player, also won every game.

The closest match of the day was between BC’s Alec Slykerman and Reedley’s Jacob Navarro. Slykerman took the first set, 6-3, and Navarro took the second, 5-7. Slykerman bested Navarro in an 11-9 third set tiebreaker.
