The Bakersfield College men’s cross country team qualified for the state championship meet to be held Nov. 18 in Fresno with a 14th-place finish out of 28 teams at the Southern California Championships in Santa Clarita.

Freshman Angelo Benitez helped BC grab the final qualifying spot, finishing 50th in 22:26. The Renegades’ other top finishers were Harrison Wykoff, 58th in 22:30, Marcos Mulato, 77th in 22:47, Ulises Cruz, 118th in 23:38, and Joel Lopez, 122nd in 23:42.

Though the BC women finished 18th and failed to qualify as team, the Renegades did have two women’s individual qualifiers. Freshman Lourdes Cruz finished 59th in 21:12 and freshman Gabriella Lugo finished 83rd in 21:46.
