Bakersfield High lost at Fresno-Bullard, 58-55, on Tuesday night in the Central Section Division I boys basketball semifinals.

The Drillers led 17-16 after the first quarter, 40-32 early in the third, 44-42 entering the fourth and 53-52 with just over three minutes remaining.

Bullard would take take a 56-55 lead with just over a minute left in the game however and eventually went up three. BHS got the ball back with eight seconds to play, but missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Ronnie Stapp led the way with 14 points for BHS, as he eclipsed the 1,000-career point mark. Roland Banks added 12 and Caleb Reaves finished with 10.

Bullard now moves on to the Division I section championship game, which will be played Saturday at 8 p.m. at Selland Arena in Fresno.

Tuesday’s game was a rematch of last year’s Division I semifinals, which the Drillers won 78-64 at BHS.

Bullard moves to 22-8 on the season while BHS falls to 21-8.
