This is in response to Nov. 5 letter, "Bias in our midst." If an armed robber is successful in robbing a bank and is able to escape capture, should that person, once caught, be granted the right to keep the money and not be prosecuted for the crime? Of course not!
If an illegal immigrant manages to enter the United States, should that person be granted the privileges earned and granted only to citizens? Of course not! The earlier writer states, "that the majority (of Hispanics) are good decent folks who just want the best for their families," implying that the bank robber should be able to keep the money he stole, and avoid prosecution.
This is what is wrong with the liberal mindset of our society. Two wrongs make a right in their book.
Maybe the restaurant patrons in the earlier letter were citizens. Maybe they were not. Being a citizen does not entitle one to courteous service, no more than being a non-citizen.
If the restaurant patrons were citizens (liberals would have objected to the waiter asking), or illegal immigrants and treated with less than friendly service, they had the right to get up and walk out. No one forced them to eat there. Lord knows, there are hundreds of restaurants in Bakersfield they could have gone to and received better service.
Discourteous service cuts across all aspects of society.
