Pay raise wrong

In reference to the $13,000 raise given to Carol Sorrell, CEO of Kern Health Systems, this is a tiny version of what is going on all over California. It is nothing new. Now we know why this state is a mess and failing financially.

The excuse that her pay has to be competitive is absurd. If Sorrell feels underpaid, she can find employment elsewhere or get a part-time job, the latter of which many county and state employees have to do to survive financially.

In this economy, I am sure many applicants would be glad to replace her at her "low" pay of $283,475, not to mention a ton of benefits and perks added to that the rest of us can only dream of.
