Let jury do its job

Attorney David A. Torres is representing a case where a female detention officer is accused of having sex with an inmate convicted of murder. Torres is also representing a former Bakersfield police officer accused of having child pornography in his possession.

Both of these cases are high-profile cases in Kern County. The media has been in a frenzy with these cases.

I have known David Torres for many years before he was an attorney. I was involved with "End Barrio Warfare," a program started by Gus Frais, a Harvard graduate, who is now a representative for the Department of Education in Los Angeles County.

David and I would travel up and down the state of California promoting the stopping of gang violence. In our travels, we came to Kern County, where David was involved with stopping gang violence in Bakersfield. Back then, David cared about his community, as he does now. He is one of our most gracious sponsors for "Feed It Forward."

David is a true man of honor and integrity and helps in any way that he can. So when he chose to represent the two former officers, he took into consideration all the good those officers did in the past.

He knows that a jury is the only thing that can determine the fate of those two officers. So don't let the media try them, let a jury.
