McCarthy needs to come to bat for HS rail facility

Will someone, anyone, please run against Kevin McCarthy in the Republican primary for California's 22nd Congressional District?

Don't get me wrong, McCarthy is not a bad guy. But his constituents need someone representing them in Congress who can relate to the economic meltdown that our community has endured since this deep recession began. We need someone who will spend every minute in Washington fighting to improve the lives of those who live in the Bakersfield area.

Is McCarthy going to go to bat for us to bring the High Speed Rail maintenance facility to Meadows Field, as opposed to Shafter or Wasco? We could sure use those well-paying jobs and the economic infusion that such a facility would bring here in Oildale.

Has McCarthy visited Oildale lately? We have not fared so well over the last few years. Our community has a huge number of problems that require proactive and forward thinking.

Too bad the 22nd Congressional District doesn't respect our communities in the Central Valley and instead is dissected practically in half by the 20th Congressional District. We've got an incredibly gerrymandered and uncompetitive congressional district. The end result has been a poor selection of potential candidates for Congress. The Republicans own this district and every two years there is a coronation, not an election.

So please, will some Bakersfield-area Republican run against McCarthy? We cannot afford the loss of jobs and opportunities that his poor representation at the federal level has caused.
