Thanks for kindness

I would like to thank Hope Moreno for stopping and assisting my son as he tried to get help for his friend Alton Saceaux.

Joseph and Alton were bike riding down South Union Avenue in Bakersfield when a drunk driver hit and killed Alton. The driver not only left the scene of the accident, but he drove down the street and returned to see what he had done. My son pleaded for him to call 911 but he just turned and left.

It was getting dark and my son was standing in the middle of the road frantically trying to flag anyone down! I am so thankful that Hope Moreno took a chance with my devastated son to call 911 and allowed him to call home so we could notify his wife and his family of the accident.

Alton was a good friend to many and was also a great neighbor. He will be missed by all! On behalf of the Sanchez and the Saceaux family we wish to thank Hope Moreno for her act of kindness.
