McCarthy out of touch

I was reading , with interest, about Rep. Kevin McCarthy's support of and sizable monetary gift to Dede Scozzafava -- the former Republican candidate for Congress from the New York Congressional 23rd District. She later dropped out of the race and supported the eventual winner, Democrat Bill Owens.

Bill Lind of the local Kern County Tea Party said that McCarthy was abandoning his principles by giving $2,000 from his local campaign war chest to the gypsy moth Republican, Scozzafava, instead of the extreme right wing candidate from the conservative party, Doug Hoffman.

What about McCarthy abandoning his constituents? Lind's group is having to resort to presenting handwritten letters of protest to McCarthy's district office in person and then going to the press -- just to get heard! I'm guessing their previous phone calls were ignored.

I'm a constituent who has called McCarthy's office six times, both in Bakersfield and Washington, D.C., on the subject of heath care reform and have never gotten a written or verbal response of any kind. My written letters have gone unanswered also.

When Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, says something, McCarthy jumps and even opens his wallet. But, when a "plain Joe" like me from Oildale asks for a response, I get ignored.

How can we get responses and answers out of McCarthy's office? Must we always go through The Californian or maybe send our requests to Boehner's office to be forwarded to McCarthy, accompanied by a fat check made out to the GOP Leadership Fund?
