Growth in fiddling

A couple of months ago, Congressman Kevin McCarthy wrote in The Californian about the identity theft protection bill he is sponsoring.

The congressman was seeking approval from his constituents by informing them that he was looking out for them. On another matter, and to his credit, McCarthy cast a respectable no vote on the ill-conceived cap and trade energy bill.

McCarthy would have gotten both my respect and approval if he had instead told us how he had used his persuasive powers to influence several of his fellow Congress persons to vote down the energy bill that no one had read, much less understood, but was nevertheless being steamrolled to approval by the House of Representatives.

Just voting appropriately is no longer acceptable to me. I expect my representatives to be vocal and persuasive in order to halt the legislative insanity that now prevails in government. I'm not aware of a single sitting Republican lawmaker with a persuasive voice.

My next vote will go to the candidate who has demonstrated the ability to be vocal and persuasive against those who support ill-conceived legislature. I'm leaving the Republican Party in order to become an independent voter because I believe this is my best move against out-of-control liberal government.

I'm fearful that Rome is burning, yet the only action is that the fiddle section is growing larger.
