Learn to share path

This is in response to a previous letter writer ("It's called a bike path," Nov. 4), stating the only people who should be able to use the bike path are cyclists. The letter writer is self-centered.

I use this path for an early morning jog on my days off. My tax dollars are used to maintain this path. If you want a private strip of asphalt that runs across the city of Bakersfield that can be used exclusively by you, then build your own path and provide your own maintenance with funds from your fellow cyclists. Then you will not be bothered by those of us who also enjoy using it for exercise.

Let's change the name of the bike path to the "exercise path." Those of us who take advantage of this outdoor treasure in Bakersfield will find pounds drop off and their blood pressure decreases. Walkers, joggers and cyclists can share. Just like we learned in kindergarten.
