McCarthy would lose to 'none of the above'

I would like to thank Robert Price for his wonderful "tongue in cheek" column about Kevin McCarthy running for president ("Kevin McCarthy has more than the requisite hair," Jan. 29).

However humorous, Price omitted some very interesting facts about Rep. McCarthy. First, despite the best efforts of congressional redistricting here in California, McCarthy continues to represent one of the most "safest" and gerrymandered districts in the nation. (Don't take my word for it -- look it up yourself.)

Secondly, McCarthy has been anointed to his congressional district. He has never had to debate anyone and has run unopposed for his entire congressional career. And in his position as majority whip in the House of Representatives, I will allow the reader to judge his performance.

Again, I would like to thank Price for reminding me that if McCarthy had to run against none of the above, he would lose.
