The problem is the road

I was reading the tragic story of the recent accidents on Highway 46 and was infuriated to see that the California Highway Patrol said it was "inappropriate driving, not the highway, that caused these tragedies." I feel this story needs to end on a different note.

How about someone addressing the fact that Highway 46 is one of the deadliest highways in California? Instead of leaving it with the CHP placing the blame on the "inappropriate driving," let's look at why this has been a problem for so long that Highway 46 has been called "Blood Alley."

Society likes to address bad actions by gang members, drug users and people that break the law, people who do inappropriate things, and rightfully so. However, let's also address Highway 46 itself. How about putting in passing lanes, at least on the Kern County side?

Or do we have to wait until a politician's family member is killed before "Blood Alley" is recognized for what it is? God bless those families who lost their lives and I pray that someone finds this issue as important as other problems that we are having in Kern County that involve "inappropriate" actions.
