Earth is warming

I take strong offense to the headline for the Jan. 18 letter, "Geologists understand earth isn't warming."

I am a geologist with an MS degree, but I don't understand! I and the vast majority of earth scientists believe the earth is warming at any alarming rate. This can be substantiated by numerous scientific articles and studies.

We professional geologists have been stating these observations for many years. Contrary to the letter writer's opinion, ice is melting at both north and south poles and glaciers are shrinking all over the planet.
