Visit Adobe Krow

I recently visited the Adobe Krow Archives, where Dee Slade greeted me and showed me around the office. I was in awe. The floor is of a manicured wood that shines from the beginning to the end of the building. A throw rug lies magnificently in front of the piano, and the library has a vast amount of books, from James Baldwin to Ralph Ellison, housed in a stunning book cabinet, shiny and immaculate.

After pointing out some of the physical attributes of the building, Slade gave me a history of African Americans who made a difference in Bakersfield. Bakersfield is truly a melting pot composed of many races and ethnic groups, she told me. Slade is intelligent, knowledgeable and very articulate. I invite everyone in Bakersfield to go by the Adobe Krow Archives for a memorable experience.
