Drama kids really know how to roll up their sleeves

Thank you for printing Pat Power's article celebrating the 40th Shakespeare Festival for our area high schools ("Foothill raising the Bard," Oct. 22).

As a drama teacher, there is no thrill quite like seeing 500 high school students cheering each other on as they watch Shakespearean scenes performed with skill and understanding. Additionally, to understand and see a festival virtually run by Power's well-trained technical students is to appreciate how much our theater students learn and practice that which will provide them with job experience that any employer would embrace.

The army of dedicated student performers is exceeded by all of the stage crew members who help the visitors get where they need to be in a timely manner, run the lights and sound, and handle any emergencies so the show can go on. Thank you again, Mr. Power!

Check out the shows at the local high schools and stop and talk to the students who work on the shows and you can appreciate those students who give theater teachers the motivation to go the extra mile for their programs.
