I have a comment to make about the shirt that new Bakersfield Jam basketball player Robert Swift was wearing in the photo published with the Nov. 14 article, "Home again." The shirt read: "Jesus Loves Me and My New Tattoos." While Jesus may love Robert, he does not love tattoos and neither does His Father.

God gave the 600 laws that included the Ten Commandments, to the Israelites in order to keep them from becoming defiled with the Gentile nations all around them that were defiling their bodies with tattoo markings, nose rings, lip rings, body piercings, and worshipping false gods and sacrificing their children to them in the fire, etc.

Here's what He said to his people in regards to tattoos at Leviticus 19:28 "And you must not make cuts in your flesh for a deceased soul, and you must not put tattoo markings upon yourselves. I am Almighty God." You might think, "Oh that is the Old Testament. Jesus doesn't care!" You would be wrong, because Jesus said at Matthew 5:17 "Do not think I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I came not to destroy but to fulfill." He said that "all" who love him will keep his father's commandments and that he and his father would come and make their dwelling with him or her. That's from John 14:22-24.
