A call to action

Elaine Howle's Oct. 28 Forum piece, "It's time to get involved in redistricting, but why is the auditor calling the shots?" shines with optimism, enthusiasm and honest good intent. More power to her.

Even better, she says we can help. This is a unique opportunity for citizen participation by keeping a watchful eye and tight grip on the whistle cord. Make no mistake, this means that mountains will crumble and rivers will change course; let's not count on our presently elected office holders to be "fair and unbiased." How could they be?

If we, the "perpetual complainers," don't participate, then we should forever hold our peace.
