BPD runs a great race

This is in response to the Oct. 22 letter, "BPD needs to step up."

I say the Bakersfield Police Department is awesome. The Howlin' At the Moon 5k and 10k race on July 13 was not only well staffed, but also a great time. Some 500 of "us" ran and didn't get lost, despite "our" poor vision and usual confusion.

The out and back 5k and 10k courses were flat, fast and fun. You ran out, turned around at the cone, ran back the same way. No rocket science involved. It did not need additional cones, lights, or hand holding. (Hand holding would have been nice.)

Please leave the BPD alone. One teenager with earphones taking a shortcut is not the fault of Bakersfield Police Department.

The BPD puts on and plans great races. I'll be at the next one: BPD Memorial Run, Nov. 7 at The Park at River Walk.
