Put prisoners to work

I certainly agree with Randy Fendrick regarding the tattered American flags. ("Tattered flag irks resident," June 10.) I have gone into a number of businesses to "remind" them that their flag needed to be replaced. Most of them have thanked me and they took care of it.

Many months ago I went into the local California Youth Authority building to ask them to replace their flag. They did take the tattered flag down, but at this point in time it has never been replaced. This is a government building!

Regarding the Parks Department remark in the article about there being no help to clean public restrooms, etc. Why don't they use some of the prisoners we are housing and feeding?
