Clearing out on the 4th

I live in a neighborhood that is very enthusiastic about its use of fireworks. Minor explosions begin sometimes weeks before the 4th of July and will last until the last kernel of powder is exploded. Many of the incendiary devices used are derived from the powder of "Safe and Sane" fireworks.
I do not have enough sedatives to calm the animals for weeks on end as well as not enough room in my garage to protect my cars. These same people, after lighting hundreds of dollars of legal fireworks on the 4th, leave piles of debris in the middle of the road to be run over by cars the next day.
The logic of not punishing law abiding citizens for the acts of a few does not apply in this situation. It would be like legalizing texting or drinking and driving because not everyone poses a threat while engaging in these activities.
I also beg to differ with the argument that blowing off fireworks is an act of patriotism. I know of few holidays celebrated that are done so for their original purpose. So, I will once again leave town on the 4th for a place that has banned fireworks, take my animals with me and hope my house still stands when I get back.
