Speeders have created a jungle out there
Everybody cries about the price of gas, and about pollution, but nobody does anything about it.
A simple solution: increase the fines for speeding -- or even require the loss of your car and jail time. On all highways and freeways, the average speed is 80 mph, but a lot of you are so happy to get behind the wheel that you want to go faster still -- even to the point of tailgating and trying to force the car in front out of your way.
I love Las Vegas and Reno, but you risk your life going and especially coming back. A lot of people stay too long then drive home at 95 mph. You don't seem to care there are a thousand cars in front. You tailgate, you pass on the right, you cut off other cars. Good thing my wife won't let me carry my gun in the car.
Where is the California Highway Patrol? Well, we cut off a big chunk of their funding! We need to hire dozens more patrol officers, not lay them off. Move them to the freeways coming west from Reno and Las Vegas. Increase the fines for speeding and recklessness. Make people slow down, no excuses. The increased fines ought to pay for all of those newly re-hired CHP officers.
