Divisiveness unhealthy

The recent letter "Bombing anniversary Saturday" was a perfect example of a red herring fallacy with a healthy dose of paranoia. I pray for the sake of logic and reason that the letter writer was being sarcastic.

It does not make any sense to use an example of domestic terrorism (Oklahoma City) as a reason for closing our borders and opposing illegal immigration. Besides, most of the Sept. 11 terrorists entered the country legally, if my memory serves me correctly.

The letter writer even contradicts herself when she claims that illegals have the opportunity to start a business, but then claims that they take away our jobs.

The last I checked, the creation of a business usually has the necessary side effect of creating jobs. With real estate taking a nosedive, maybe we can use some immigration to fill up the empty homes all of the illegals are supposed to be threatening.

I do understand the problems that illegal immigration may cause. However, criminalizing people and equating them to terrorists is shameful to say the least. Divisiveness is never healthy, nor will it ever serve a positive purpose.
