Southern California is now dealing with one of the deadliest fires in history. It has destroyed over 700 homes, killed a ton of animals, and has caused about 200,000 people to evacuate.
We are thankful for the firefighters but we must consider how we can help prevent wildfires ourselves. The U.S. National Park Service has said that “wildfires can be caused by nature, but 90 percent of wildfires in the United States are caused by humans.” People who throw burning cigarettes on the ground are one cause. As citizens we need to respect the environment and do little things to prevent big things like wildfires.
