My wife and I had the pleasure of attending Greg Porter’s Dec. 6 concert at the Ace Hotel Theatre in downtown Los Angeles and we were completely blown away. You need not be a seasoned jazz fan to enjoy the show. His warm baritone voice will coax and invite you in, and the musicianship on display in the quartet backing him is precise and expertly woven into the performance.

Mr. Porter has won two Grammy awards, tours all over the world, and recently performed on NBC’s Today Show in NYC. His career is ascending, and for good reason. What a treat to have him to return to his hometown of Bakersfield, performing a concert at CSUB on Jan. 20 benefitting Habitat for Humanity. If you’re able to score a ticket, consider yourself lucky and go!

To the city at large, let’s roll out the red carpet and welcome Mr. Porter back to Bakersfield and show him how proud we are. Let's hope he makes this an annual visit.
