I was just reading at breakfast that the Bakersfield Police Department has a high turnover rate. It states this could be because of their low pay. The starting pay is $58,980 per year. The average starting pay for a college graduate is $50,556.

The average pay for a college graduate is $60,129 with the top 10 percent earning $114,855 and the low 10 percent just $31,479. I do not know if members of the BPD receive clothing and equipment allowances; if not, they should. It also states that most of the officers leave to take jobs in our coastal communities. I am sure there could be many reasons like lighter work loads and less danger; or could it be as simple as weather, beach and surf. It could even be great seafood whenever you want, day or night.
