Dear Kevin:

This letter is bittersweet and — remember — it’s not you, it’s me. But I think the time has come for both of us to move on. We seem to be moving in different directions, and although ending this relationship will be painful, it will be better for all of us in the long run.

As an up-and-coming congressman, you provided us with great hope for the Valley. But it’s time to put all of your legislative accomplishments aside and come to the realization that you have moved on to a much higher calling. The commander-in-chief is calling (where’s my Kevin?) and the future of the GOP needs your fundraising acumen and unifying ways.

The Central Valley needs something much different. We need a legislator who is focused on the needs in the Valley. The southern San Joaquin Valley faces many challenges in developing a workforce that can compete in the sophisticated economy of the future. It’s time for a new and improved “young gun," so I thank you for your time and wish all the best.
