Children dying from guns is an epidemic in our country. the Centers for Disease Control and the University of Texas report that 1,700 children were shot from 2012- 2014.
Nineteen children are shot every day and 3.5 are killed by guns every day. Guns are the third-leading cause of death of children between the ages of 1 and 17. Younger children are shot at home and normally by a parent figure. Most teenagers are shot in the public places, street and alleys by either their peers or an older teen.
The recent shooting of a pregnant woman, her 5-year-old and her 3-year-old got my attention. Her 3-year-old son died.
Children are not supposed to die from guns; it's bad enough when they die from illnesses. There may be psychological reasons why these sick and evil people kill, but no words that can describe this type of heinous killing.
