I have been following the articles describing the changes to the tax code that are being proposed. The one that really caught my attention is the attempt to stop people from deducting state income taxes from federal returns.
This deduction was implemented to level the playing field for those of us who live in states that impose state income taxes. Many states do not have state income taxes so their residents automatically pay less taxes.
If the politicians are successful in removing this deduction, it will be just another slap in the face of everyone who lives in a state that does impose state income taxes.
