I recently read the article headlined "Texas church gunman escaped from mental health center," written by Associated Press writers Norman Merchant, Jim Vertuno and Will Weissert. However, I don't think Devin Kelley, the gunman, should have been held in a mental health center. He should have been put into a hospital for the criminally insane for his past crimes.
In addition, the Air Force should have more responsibility, because they did not enter the gunman's criminal history records into the federal databases, which is required by military rules. This horrible shooting might have even been prevented if Kelley was denied the purchase of a gun.
